Prefect is a dynamic indie band based in Arizona, comprised of Aiden Ohm, Tanner Tate, Miles Naffah, and Zane Mertel. Formed from a desire to share Aiden's songs and deliver energetic live performances, the band's sound is a fusion of Midwest emo, punk, rock, and reggae influences, drawing comparisons to Blink 182 and Sublime. Audiences attending their performance at Mesa Music Fest can anticipate a lively set filled with upbeat tracks and previews of new music.
In their songwriting process, Aiden typically initiates with a riff, which the band collectively refines and expands upon during collaborative sessions. One of their favorite live performances is "Falling," a fast-paced, high-energy track with a catchy hook.
Despite being an indie band, Prefect has encountered minimal challenges beyond logistical issues like scheduling rehearsals. They credit the supportive and tightly knit local music scene in Arizona for fostering an environment of experimentation and encouragement.
What distinguishes Prefect within the indie scene is their versatility across genres, allowing them to seamlessly integrate into various music communities. They are equally comfortable performing alongside emo, punk, reggae, and indie bands.
Exciting developments on the horizon for Prefect include upcoming show announcements and the release of new songs slated for the summer. While they haven't engaged in many collaborations within the band, they've previously released a Split EP Vinyl with Harpoon the Whale and express interest in future collaborations with local and established bands like New Aesthetic and Troubled Minds.
