A profile interview done on local band Maybe You’re Right.

Maybe You’re Right is an emerging pop-punk band from Las Vegas, featuring Jared Summers as the lead singer and guitarist, Hawke on guitar and vocals, Charlene on bass and graphic design, and Austin on drums. Jared, born in California but raised in Las Vegas, leads the band with a unique emo vision, while Charlene and Hawke, both from Las Vegas, and Austin, a newcomer from California, complete the lineup. The band came together organically through Instagram, with members reaching out to fill specific roles. Jared's decision to recruit Austin was based as much on their shared interest in Yu-Gi-Oh as on Austin's drumming skills, highlighting the band's playful and spontaneous spirit. The name Maybe You’re Right was chosen from a list of potential names Jared had written down, ultimately selected for its relatability and catchy appeal.

The band's sound is heavily influenced by pop-punk legends like All Time Low, Blink-182, Fall Out Boy, and My Chemical Romance. Jared describes their music as a blend of these influences, with an emo twist that adds depth and complexity. Charlene and Hawke contribute their own eclectic influences, ranging from Iron Maiden and Taylor Swift to Joyce Manor and Basement. The result is a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh, with a unique edge that sets them apart in the Las Vegas music scene. Their upcoming projects, including the EP "When the Party’s Over" and an album with a song based on Les Misérables, promise to showcase their evolving style and storytelling prowess.

The journey of Maybe You’re Right has been marked by significant milestones and a strong sense of camaraderie among the band members. Highlights include being featured in Lights Off Media’s magazine and reaching the finals in the Life Is Beautiful Battle of the Bands. Each show and studio session brings them closer together, with Jared noting the absence of tension and the enjoyment of making music as a cohesive unit. The Las Vegas music scene has played a crucial role in their development, providing a supportive community and dedicated fan base. They emphasize the importance of connections and the impact of live performances, which are characterized by high energy and engaging stage presence.

Balancing individual creativity with the collective vision of the band is a key aspect of their dynamic. Jared typically writes the demos, but the final songs are a collaborative effort, with each member contributing ideas and refining the music. This process ensures that every song reflects the band's diverse influences and strengths. Despite challenges like managing time and resources, the band remains dedicated and resilient, finding ways to overcome obstacles and continue growing. Their advice to aspiring musicians is to practice diligently, support each other, and maintain a shared commitment to the band’s success.

Looking ahead, Maybe You’re Right envisions playing larger shows, reaching a wider audience, and continuing to innovate musically. They see their future as one of steady growth and increasing recognition, driven by their passion for music and the strong bonds within the band. Their connection with fans is paramount, with social media playing a significant role in engaging and expanding their audience. Ultimately, Maybe You’re Right aims to create music that resonates with listeners, providing a soundtrack to the highs and lows of life and reinforcing the message that no one is alone in their experiences.
